How do I connect my vehicle to HotCar?
Go to Settings → Add Vehicle, select your vehicle brand, and enter your vehicle account credentials. We use secure OAuth authentication and never store your password on our servers.
Which vehicle brands are supported?
We currently support Tesla, Ford, GM, and Toyota vehicles with factory remote start capabilities. More brands will be added in future updates.
How accurate is the warm-up time calculation?
Our algorithm uses real-time weather data, your vehicle type, and historical performance data to provide accurate warm-up time estimates. You can also manually adjust the timer as needed.
Do I need an internet connection to use HotCar?
Internet connection is required for remote vehicle control and weather data. If no internet is available, HotCar will work as a standalone timer with default settings.
Why isn't my vehicle connecting?
Please check:
- Your vehicle account credentials are correct
- Your vehicle has an active internet connection
- You have enabled remote access in your vehicle settings
- Your API token is not expired
How do I enable widget support?
Long press on your home screen, tap the "+" button, search for "HotCar", and select the widget size you want to add. The widget shows current timer status and remaining time.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use industry-standard encryption for all data transmission and store your API tokens securely in your device's keychain. We never share your personal data with third parties.
Troubleshooting
Timer not starting
Ensure you have added at least one vehicle in the app settings. If using remote control, verify your vehicle connection status and internet connection.
Remote control not working
Try logging out and back into your vehicle account. Make sure your vehicle is within cellular coverage and remote start is enabled in your vehicle's official app first.
Weather data not updating
Check that location services are enabled for HotCar in your device Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services.
Notifications not working
Go to Settings → Notifications → HotCar and ensure notifications are enabled. Check that your device is not in Do Not Disturb mode.
